I’m so happy you’ve made your way here! I’m Meghan, the photographer behind Luz Maré Photography. Originally from Wisconsin and later shaped by the Arizona desert, I’ve now planted roots along the Algarve coast.
I’m drawn to honest connection, natural light, and the kind of moments that feel even better than they look. My sessions are relaxed, gently guided, and centered around helping people feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves. I want your photographs to feel timeless, emotional, and true to this season of life.

MY STORY
Photography has been part of my life since high school, when I first picked up a camera and fell in love with the way a single image could hold feeling, memory, and meaning. What began as curiosity quickly became something much deeper, and over the years, that passion has only grown stronger.
As I traveled, experienced new places, and witnessed love, family, and life unfolding in all its forms, photography became more than a creative outlet. It became the way I learned to notice beauty, connection, and the moments that matter most. That same passion is what eventually led me to Portugal and the next chapter of this journey.
I chose this place on purpose. I’m here to stay, here to create, and here to document the stories that happen in one of the most beautiful corners of the world.
WHAT TO EXPECT
I shoot documentary style — but with gentle intention behind it. I'll give you just enough direction to feel confident and at ease, then step back and let the real moments happen. Candid, but never accidental. Guided, but never stiff.
Every detail is handled before we meet — location, styling, planning — so that on the day, all you have to do is show up and be present. I want every session to feel effortless, and I want you to leave feeling like you made a new friend.
I have a running list of dream destinations where I will show up with no session fee — just travel costs. If you're planning something in a place that takes my breath away, reach out. Some of the best work happens when we both get a little lost together.
When I’m not behind the lens
You’ll usually find me slowing down with the people I love, finding beauty in ordinary moments, and making space for a life that feels meaningful. I’ve learned that the best parts of life are usually the simplest ones.
I moved to Portugal with my husband, who sometimes joins me on sessions as an extra set of hands, helping with everything from lighting to the little details like holding jackets or keeping track of belongings so you can stay present and enjoy the moment. He also serves as a trusted second shooter for larger celebrations, weddings, and elopements.
Together, we’ve built a life rooted in adventure, creativity, and saying yes to the chapters that call us forward. That same spirit is woven into the way I photograph others.
